My Auntie Mary has been very close to me since my mum died 20 years ago. I regularly visit her at home in Cheshire, along with her lifelong friend, Hazel, who lives one street away. They live surrounded by the Derbyshire hills, where Hazel used to often go walking.
This project is a visual diary of their friendship as they grow older, and their determination to live independent and purposeful lives. Both their houses reflect their individuality and history, and I find the familiarity of being there on my visits from London both comforting and nostalgic.
